As the official lighting provider for the Pedro Calungsod templete architectural lighting, Luminance Inc. is proud to see that the National Thanksgiving Mass for Saint Pedro Calungsod held on November 30, 2012 was deemed a success. Thousands of people swarmed the designated site on Friday for the Eucharistic Celebration for Saint Pedro Calungsod, the Philippines’ second Catholic saint.
The event started off with a fluvial procession where the figure of Saint Pedro Calungsod was carried by the San Diego, a vessel fashioned to look like a “galleon.” Arriving at SRP, the figure was lowered unto a proa and brought to the port where it was received by the waiting catechists. Saint Pedro Calungsod’s figure was then brought to the templete in a procession joined by thousands of devotees, cheering “Viva San Pedro Calungsod.” The National Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and concelebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales.
The event was attended by both local and national high-ranking officials, including President Benigno Aquino III, who gave an “apolitical” speech after the Eucharistic celebration.
LED Architectural Lighting
Luminance Inc., in cooperation with Pro AVM Solutions, provided the LED architectural lighting design and LED luminaires for the Saint Pedro Calungsod templete. The lighting scheme took months in the making, where Luminance Inc. worked closely with the event organizers from the Archdiocese of Cebu.
During the event, the mass itself extended well into the evening and the beautiful architectural lighting scheme not only provided illumination to the templete throughout the entire Eucharistic celebration, but also served as a colourful tribute to Saint Pedro Calungsod, Philippines’ second saint, and the first from the Visayas.
